Alan and Réna are our very good friends and since Alan has lost a lot of weight (a lot of friends and ex-colleagues wouldn’t recognise him), we took the opportunity to squeeze in a quick studio portrait session.

These are good examples of classic black and white studio portraits.

We could have shot more, but it was a social event (we haven’t seen much of them lately, even though they live in Livingston too) and dinner was waiting.

I must admit, photographing close friends is actually a lot harder than expected – probably because there isn’t the usual professional separation.

I think we should shoot more with them – probably something contemporary and outdoors and as a couple…
