It's all about the customer experience and relationship
What We Do
Fundamentally (and hopefully not surprisingly), we’re photographers in the business of making portraits. The term “portrait” covers a lot of things, but in the context of what we show here, we’re talking about “social photography”. That’s portraits of people, families and pets (for non-commercial purposes). We shoot lots of commercial work for businesses and professional purposes, but that’s not what we’re about here.
We don’t shoot weddings. Well, almost never.
Hopefully, you’re here because you’ve seen our portraits, love our work and want to have the portraits we will create for you hanging on your walls.
“How much does it cost?” begs the answer “it depends on what you buy”.
We will invest all the time we need to give you the experience and service you deserve. It doesn’t matter how much you spend - we treat you the same if you order our smallest desk portrait or our biggest wall collections. Not everyone has wall space or budget for massive wall portraits – that’s fine – simply wanting to have our portraits, whatever the size, makes you a valued customer to us.
There are no upfront packages. Portraits can fill a void in both your walls and your life. We are pretty certain you don’t know what you really want until we start to explore what you need from the experience. A large part of the experience is in discovering what you need - some questions to you and a lot of listening by us.
We have no desire to be booked because we're cheap (it’s all relative though). Not everyone will be our customer. We’re ok with that. We consider customer experience, relationship and service to be as important as the photography (and the products we deliver). Not everyone has those same values – that’s fine.
The session itself gets as much time as it needs (but equally, we don't want it to drag on too long that participants get bored).
After we shoot, we will select the best shots to show you. You don't need to see anything but the best shots (and maybe some goofy out-takes!) . You might have an idea of what you might like, but that could go out the window when you see the selected portraits.
To view and order your images you come back to the studio for a design consultation. You get comfortable on the couch, have a cuppa and get wowed by the portraits projected large. As part of that, we can guide you on products and sizes. We don’t want you to order products that look disappointingly small on your wall and conversely, we don’t want you to order something too big just because it’s big.
Everything we do for you takes time and much of it is in-person with you.
Often, lots of time. We’ll take time to listen and discover your needs from the portrait experience and explain all the possible options before the session. We’ll take all the time we need in a session itself. Thinning out the images to only show you the best selection in your design consultation takes time too. And once you’ve ordered, we take lots of time to meticulously retouch the images to make them the best we can.
We care about and control how our images are printed. Hanging on your wall, they represent our brand and a cheap products do not represent what we do.
All our products are produced by a professional lab to give you tangible, high-end, printed, products that will last. We expect them to be on your walls for years. Not forgotten in the back of a drawer. When you come to collect your portraits we want you to be wowed – handing over a USB pen drive never gives anyone any “wow!”.
We prefer that every order comes to us because we want to inspect every portrait. If we get something back from the lab and it’s not right, we reject it before you see it (we hope!). It’s incredibly rare that they get it wrong and hopefully just as rare that we get it wrong, but it has happened and it will undoubtedly happen again. The key thing is that it should be right when you collect it and just as importantly we have the satisfaction of handing over a finished product for you to go “wow!”.
We like wowing people.
And through all of this, we’re trying to enjoy ourselves doing what we love because doing this just for money would be dull.
