Recognised as one of Scotland’s leading studio photographers, Barrie specialises in portraiture. On the commercial side, he’s highly sought after for his headshots related dance & ballet imagery,

Barrie’s work is often immediately recognisable for his clean and subtle use of light and a simple, elegant, uncomplicated style.

As a change of career (or mid-life crisis), Barrie opened his studio in the East Pavilion of Blackburn House (Seafield, West Lothian) in the summer of 2011. It keeps him out of mischief.

He is qualified with The Federation of European Photographers (MQEP, June 2023), the Society of Photographers (FSWPP, January 2023), The British Institute of Professional Photography (FBIPP, May 2022),

He also sits on the boards of  The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and The Federation of European Photographers (FEP)

Barrie doesn’t enjoy writing about himself in the third-person but accepts that it reads better as a bio.
